Release Day Blitz Officer out of Uniform by Ranae Rose

OFFICER OUT OF UNIFORM (LOCK AND KEY, #2)

The only thing better than a man in uniform is a man out of uniform. Sasha has never been more certain of anything in her life, and she’s never wanted anyone more than she wants Officer Henry Dryden. Tall, tough and battle-scarred, he’s the first man to capture not just her eye, but her heart. With curves and the confidence to use them, it’s not hard to attract his attention, or get him to break out those cuffs and keys. But for the first time, getting exactly what she wants feels dangerously like risking it all.

There’s no question about the one thing Henry wants most when it comes to Sasha: to protect her. After their coastal North Carolina community is sent a message via the brutal murder of the prison warden, no one is safe. Henry can’t afford to be distracted by things like the all-consuming desire Sasha inspires. There’ll be time for that later … if he can keep her from getting caught in the crossfire of a killer’s revenge scheme. Haunted by the ghosts of his past, he’ll do anything to avoid being the only one to walk out of a war zone alive again. The way forward is clear: stop the convict who’s hunting officers in Riley County, and keep Sasha safe … or die trying.

ARC Review Officer Out of Uniform

My Review

This is the second book in the Lock and Key Series by Ranae Rose...Sasha and Henry where introduced in the first book in the series Officer Next Door.

Sasha is a strong woman who goes after what she wants and she wasn't Henry. A Sassy woman who knows her way around a kitchen and how to handle a knife. She tends to be impulsive but that is what I love about her.

Henry is a former Marine who works at the prison that has many a battle scare both mentally and physically. He is determined not to lose focus and keep Sasha safe even if it kills him.

This book does leave off where the last ended in the sense of one of the escaped prisoners is back for revenge and he plans on going out with a bang.

Henry and Sasha do make a great team, even when Henry thinks he doesn't need her. One of my favorite parts of the book involves Sasha running in a bikini and brandishing a kitchen knife.

This book is filled with all sorts of goodies which make it my favorite so far of all Ranae's books... It has suspense, steamy parts, humor, heartache, the lady in white, nightmares, and love.

Review Jessica's Obsession by Taabia Dupree

Description
Jessica's Obsession, The Beginning. Book 1

Have you ever had a crush? Were you preoccupied by their existence? Did you live, breathe, and become completely compulsive about their whereabouts?

If you answered yes to most of those questions, then you and Jessica have a lot in common.

"The sly smile on her lips turned into a wide grin when she stepped into the shower. She sang as the warm water cascaded down the drain. Then she began to think about her someday children: Tia Stone, Tobias Stone, Tony Stone Jr., Trevor Stone, and Twyla Jessica Stone."

My Review

What is Obsession and How far you would go? That is the question this book makes you ask. And when it comes to Jessica....There is no nice way to put this... Jessica is a lot of Crazy... and Tony Stone is the object of her life long obsession.

The book starts out in the present and introduces us to John Quinlawho is a Romance cover-model, bodybuilder and former wrestler (he is the male on the cover) who wants to get a tattoo from Tony.

The book will go from that scene and take you back into the past. Where an unassuming little girl, Jessica, is all kinds of messed up and as she grows the decent into a world of her own making becomes even more clear. She will do anything to have Tony, no matter what the cost.Just the glimpse into her deranged mind is scary.. I can't wait to read more about Jessica and Tony, to see what happens next as this book does leave you at end point which is kind of a cliff-hanger.

Overall... I liked this book and found it to be a good read and look forward to reading the second book in the series.

Review of Wildfire by Mina Khan

Description
Lynn Hana Alexander is a 25-year-old Japanese American shape shifter haunted by guilt. She’s been questioning herself and her dragon abilities ever since she failed to save her grandmother.

When her best friend is threatened by mysterious fires burning up acres of West Texas, Lynn rushes to the rescue determined not to fail again. However, with a tempting firefighter, a flirty city developer and dragon pheromones distracting her, how is she going to find the arsonist?

And worse: is her primary suspect a malicious rogue dragon or the love of her life?

My Review

I have to say I loved this book... It had a very interesting story line which kept you captivated and had you wanting to continue reading and wanting to know who is responsible for the fires.

The characters are interesting and were thoughtfully constructed.  Lynn has a hard time of it lately her grandmas death and dumping her cheating fiance...  Add in Jack and Henry which are handsome men who attract both her human and dragon side and both attracted to Lynn but both have her questioning which one has alternative motives.

Mina has spun a suspenseful and interesting story which leaves you hoping she will write more dragon stories.

I hate giving away ending but have to say that you will be happy with the outcome of this book and if you like inquisitive reporter, who did its and romantic tension this book is for you.

I rate this book a 4.5 out of 5

Review Glisten by Patrice Lyle

Description

The death of Western medicine. The death of a federal agent. And the death of sisterly love.

An explosive new law bans Western medicine and forces Americans to adopt naturopathic medicine as the only legal form of health care. Glisten is the biggest health revolution America has ever seen and sparks controversy that touches many lives... including twin sisters Isabelle and Charelle Adler, who haven't seen each other since they were teenagers. Now Isabelle is a Health Enforcement Agent for the U.S. Department of Glisten and Charelle is deeply entrenched in the Resistance. Add in Isabelle's murdered fiancĂ© and Dr. Jade, a naturopathic doctor who orchestrates a risky maneuver to save her marriage, and Glisten is a fast-paced story about holistic medicine, family secrets, and dangerous choices.

My Review

I found the thought of this book extremely interesting and I wasn't mistaken. My gut told me this was going to be a good but I was surprised on how much I truly liked it and was enlightened, by all the healthy living and holistic medical  information that Patrice Lyle incorporates into her book. She has taken a Traditional Medical Suspense Novel and put her own spin on it birthing a Holistic Medical Suspense novel where traditional medicine is outlawed, Twin Sisters are on different sides of a war where there is danger, death, heartbreak, family secrets and never a dull moment.

I really enjoyed how the story line was intertwined and you could go from the Glisten side to the Resistance side and feel like they were connected. This book shows the different sides of medicine and alternative options in a world that is consumed with pills vs natural remedies are sometimes it takes a brave person to say no more and find something better the body and soul.

The story line with the secondary characters is equally entertaining and suspenseful Dr. Jade has her own issues in this book so it isn't just about Charelle and Isabelle. This was a book i had trouble putting down and I seriously hope that there is a second book. As Patrice Lyle leaves you wanting more, I hate cliff hangers(I hate waiting for the next book) but i am hoping there is a Glisten 2 to find out what happens next.

*I met Patrice Lyle at the Fredrick Book Festival, she was very engaging and I had a wonderful conversation with her about Holistic medicine and natural living.

I rate this book a 4 out of 5

*I was given this book by the author in return for my honest review

Review Guardians of Stone By Anita Clenney

Guardians of Stone By: Anita Clenney

Description
Kendall Morgan is a human bloodhound. Spending her childhood hunting relics with her ambitious archaeologist father, she knew the two of them shared a sixth sense for the history and location of objects—sometimes even people. What she didn’t know was that their paranormal gift could ultimately be their undoing.

After the tragic plane crash that killed her father as well as her childhood best friend, Kendall dedicated her life to finding and protecting relics. When mysterious, sexy billionaire Nathan Larraby hires her for his latest expedition—the search for four powerful relics —she’s thrown into a world of high-octane danger. He sends brooding mercenary Jake Stone to watch Kendall’s back, but he may have created danger of a different kind.

As the team chases down clues, a man called the Reaper makes a play for the artifacts and will stop at nothing to put them to his own sinister use. What’s worse is that Nathan hasn’t told the whole story, and the dark secrets he’s keeping could cost them the mission…and their lives.

My Review

This is the first book I have read by Anita Clenney and I have to say I loved it. This is a very fast paced and action packed book with romantic tension interlaced. Little bit of TombRaider (yes Anita is a female relic detector) and DaVinci Code(follow the clues).

Kendell has a knack for not listening and going with her gut, that gut normally gets her into a situation that Jake has to save her from. I didn't like Jake at first because he was kind of an ass about going on a relic hunting mission with Kendell. Nathan is a very interesting character and I want to know so much more about him. He hides a lot of things which cause some issues with those involved, even though he is the boss I thought he should be upfront and honest with Kendell as it seems he really cares for her.

The mystery of this book was very search for the holy grail like which i loved you don't know what the relic is till later and i have to say I loved the Sentry Guards, the ghost monk and the Italian setting... Very Cool.  There is also romantic tension between Kendall and Jake which I loved and there are parts which make you wonder how they can stay undercover with all the hiccups along the way. One side character will make you want to tell her to shut up and mind your own damn business lol.

Anita Clenney wraps up this relic finding mission very nicely, I say mission because well there has to be another one with Kendell, Jake and Nathan and I can't wait to read it. I finished this book in a about 4 hours cause I couldn't put it down and I have read it twice more. There is some transaction issues and questions that are not answered but I loved the fast paced action mystery of the book that made me want to keep reading regardless of these issues.

I rate this book a 4 out of 5
