Book Signing with Jeaniene Frost and Pamela Palmer

Photo: Pamela Palmer then Jeaniene Frost

So Last night I went to book signing at Barnes & Noble in Cary, NC for New Releases Wulfe Untamed by Pamela Palmer and Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost.  These Ladies were friendly, gave all those who where present an insight to how/where they write, who their most demanding character was, and answered questions from those present. I love authors that are passionate about their characters even when the books they are talking about are the "last" in the series.... But I am excited to see what is next from both of these authors.

ARC Review Harvey by Krystal Shannan

Description
It’s just a game…right?

Olivia Hampton never thought she’d run into the guy of her dreams at a Gaming Convention, but when Harvey MacLaughlin introduces himself a woman can’t help but notice. He’s six and a half feet of tall-dark-and-yummy. Plus, he's a gamer too. But, how do you tell the man of your dreams you decimate him at Soldier’s Call, the most popular FPS game of the year, almost every night?

Harvey MacLaughlin was interested in Olivia the second she stepped on the plane. When he sees her again in the convention hotel, introducing himself becomes priority number one. He may have started out just looking for company, but what he finds in the beautiful Olivia Hampton may be more than he ever dreamed.

Will a secret between them ruin their budding relationship? Or will Harvey take another path and turn the game on her?

My Review

Love at a Gaming Convention... What a great setting for a romance novella. I really enjoyed this quick read... Olivia is an easily likable heroine who is not only smart but also pretty darn good at gaming, and hoping to get a job promotion.  Harvey meshes well with Olivia, is supportive and hot too boot...they are a gaming couple made in heaven.  The story is full and isn't lacking even though it is a quick read.

This is the third book in the MacLaughlin series and I have to say that Krystal Shannan did it again with her easy writing style and complete plot-line which makes for an enjoyable read.

Book Tour Steal Me,Cowboy by Kim Boykin

STEAL ME, COWBOY
by Kim Boykin

BLURB:

Unbeknownst to her boyfriend, Sassy South Carolina hairstylist, Rainey Brown, is headed to Missoula, dead set on giving her minor league baseball player boyfriend of four years an ultimatum. Either put a ring on it or let her go, preferably not the latter.

When Rainey's piece of crap car dies in the middle of Nowhere, Montana, she's sure she's a gonner, until gorgeous restaurateur Beck Hartnett stops to help. Beck falls hard for Rainey, and knows she would admit she's fallen for him too, if she wasn't too stubborn to admit it. Beck has five days before the car is repaired to steal Rainey away from a boyfriend who doesn't deserve her. Five days before she's gone for good.

EXCERPT

“Car trouble?” He tipped his hat back and raised his aviators. Wicked green eyes raked over me, and my breath caught a little.

Granted I was on my way to see my boyfriend, but I wasn’t dead. The cowboy’s face was rugged and stubbled, and the air conditioner on full blast blew his long dark hair about, the kind of hair that’s so luscious, it makes a stylist’s fingers twitch.

Review Wet for The Titan By Jennifer James

Description
Poseidon, god of the sea, proclaims that any nymph from his harem who wishes to search out a mate may do so.

However, she only has three days to find someone he deems worthy.

Welcome to the world of the Nymphs of New York.

It's never good to piss off a goddess, even a minor one...

Telesto has been reasonably content as a member of Poseidon's harem, until he came along and ripped her free of her moorings, setting her adrift without gravity to keep her feet on the ground. She hadn't been looking for love, a relationship, or anything but a private room to retreat to in the castle. Now her fury has been unleashed, and she has no problem bringing an arrogant Titan back to Earth.
He's going to claim his mate whether she likes it or not...

Pyroeis has long been a wanderer, and a lucky hand of cards has gifted him with the one thing he always wanted, at the expense of what he never knew he needed. He'll travel to the ends of the universe if he must to convince Telly she belongs with him, and only him. Nothing will stand in his way, no creature, no matter how powerful, can stop this Titan from claiming his mate.

My Review

I have to say I love the thought of Nymphs getting a happy ever after... And Wet for The Titan is a great intro to this series. It is a quick read but was fulfilling and I loved the characters and there were additional characters which filled out the story line.

Telesto (Telly) and Pyroeis (Pyro) have already connected and Pyro is in the dog house, which is not a good place for a Titan especially one with a bad temper when he finds out the girl(nymph) of his dreams runs away. I liked that he would do anything to claim his mate and wants her to understand why he did what he did.

When Water and Fire connect there is steam, heat and even a bit of magic...Telly and Pyro come together perfectly. I am excited to read more from this series and from Jennifer James.  Great Prequel.

Review What A Goddess Wants By Stephanie Julian

Description

Tessa, Etruscan Goddess of the Dawn, is desperately fighting off a malicious god, but her powers are weakening. She needs a hero and fast, because only sexual energy can give her strength. So she seeks out Caligo, whose sexual prowess is legendary.

Caligo is a fabled Cimmerian warrior determined to stay away from spoiled goddesses who trample hearts after they've had their fun. But there's something irresistibly hot and inviting about Tessa, and he knows he's her only chance to escape the encroaching darkness.

My Review

This is the first book in the Forgotten Goddesses Series and I have to say really I liked this twist on mythology. It was a fast read which was smokin and not just because of the sex scenes. It had humor to it even though I did have some issues with how fast they got together after at the start of the book. (I don't post spoilers  so if you read this book you will know what I mean).

As the book progresses  though Tessa and Caligo (Cal) have a great chemistry and grow to care for each other. Even though they face attacks from Charun's (god who is stuck in underworld) minions and Tessa's weakening powers.  I do love the push and pull they have as Tessa even though she is a forgotten goddess still has a job to do (with or without Cal's help). The secondary characters are entertaining as well Sal and X are great additions to the book.

Over all Stephanie Julian writes steamy scenes but also the story line and action keeps the book going and makes for an easy enjoyable read.

Review Lethally Blonde By Patrice Lyle

Description

Morgan Skully is the world's only blonde demon girl, and she's got a brand new, very unusual after school job. Spying for the Devil. She'd much rather use her cloak-and-dagger skills to spy on hottie-licious Derek with her friends, but the Devil won't take no for an answer. Luckily for Morgan, her new boss is kinda hot. Her assignment is simple: find out who at Pitchfork Prep is funneling secrets to the Siberian Werewolf Council. If she succeeds, pedicures and platinum highlights are just the beginning.

But if she fails... there's more on the line than killer shoes.

My Review

I have to say I fell in love with Morgan she is not your typical Demon, she is blonde and loves Pink. (My kind of girl). She is also a teenager with teenage problems who just happens to work as a spy for the Devil and all she wants to do is go to the Brimstone Ball with her crush Derek. She is learning life lessons and how to be a demon assassin with a little help from her "hot" boss.

I do not like ruining stories but this book is a great Young Adult/Teen book. There is NO Sex (that's right) but it is an easy read that has the heroine going through things that all teenage girls deal with (mean girl, embarrassment, parent/boss/teacher drama, First Kiss and a hot crush). I love all the little acronyms that are used and feel that Morgan and her friends could fit in with today's teens. I truly enjoyed this book and I wanted to keep reading even after it was done.

I don't know if Patrice Lyle plans on making this a series but I hope she does as I feel that there is more in Morgans future as She is just starting out as a Demon Assassin and I want to know what happens next in her demon teen high school life.

New Addition to my blog

Hey All,

So if you see I kind of updated my page a little bit... And added something new :) A new blog is attached to my blog, From the Epic World of Dave (tab is on top)... This is my oldest Son's Blog he wanted to tell people what he thought about things he likes from Video Games, Books, Legos, Jokes and Science Facts. It is a work in progress but he did his first review :)

He is extremely smart and even though he is 10 and in 5th grade he reads at a 9th grade level right now. He will write his own book reviews on YA/Children's books and I will post those reviews to Goodreads, Amazon, B&N and so forth. All the books he will review are books he chooses to read and are most likely AR testable. That is important if I know the level I will post the AR level. So please go to his blog, follow if you wish but also welcome him into the blogging world.

Don't forget that I have two contest going on right now for January and will be taking part in a hop for February (oh the goodies I have coming for you).

Much Love

Review Faelon By AJ Kelton

Description

Who knew that loving a Nephilim could be so dangerous.

Faelon, a 3000-year-old nephilim, fleeing a demonic master, found safety with the church. He has repaid their kindness by translating various artifacts. Father Donovan has watched as Faelon became a recluse, fearing those who would harm him.

Jax, wanting a change, moves to Salem, MA where he finds work as a churches security guard. Not believing that Faelon is a nephilim, he is forced to confront his own beliefs in the supernatural.

Can he learn to accept Faelon, and be the master he requires? Or lose the man he loves to the demons who would harm him.

My Review

I fell in love with Faelon, he is a great character with a tortured past  (and I mean tortured). Jax is the security guard new to Salem, in charge of guarding antiques in the church not knowing that Faelon is the antique is he guarding.  Him and Faelon start a friendship of sorts which turns into something more.

There is so much I love about this book, it is plotted out well, the characters are interesting and in the case of Jax, he needs a little push from his sister to accept not only his feeling for Faelon but also accept that Faelon is a Nephilim. I liked learning about Faelon's history even if it was dark, he has friends in the twins and a Dom in Jax. The passion between Faelon and Jax scorches the pages, and I enjoyed the flow of the book. There are some unanswered question about what will happen next at the end of the story but I am hopeful that AJ Kelton will continue this story in another book.

ARC Review of Caiden by Krystal Shannan

Description

She seems like a breath of fresh air, but secrets and trouble are following this girl like a bad habit. Will he take a chance and listen to his heart? Or will he cut himself off from another chance at love?

Lina Mathews is running scared. She left her home to avoid a man who's determined to make her life a living hell. When she meets Caiden MacLaughlin, everything changes. Will he be her knight in shining armor, or will her troubles drive him away like everyone else? Can she find safety in his arms before it's too late?

My Review

The is the second Novella in the MacLaughlin Family series, and so far my favorite in the series. I have to say I love Lina we are introduced to her when she has a flat on the side of the road. She is no weak woman either, but we find out she has a reason to be cautious. I love her sass and how Caiden finds it attractive also.

Caiden is a protector and I love that about him, I also love his dogs. Him and Lina heat up the pages from the get go... They belong together.
This Novella is keeps you reading and is well rounded...There is a lot that happens to Lina in this book (warning of violence) but it is written very well written and Krystal covers all corners.  My heart broke on how Lina's father treated Caiden, but everything turns out great in the end.

I can't wait to read more of this series and read the rest of the MacLaughlin's stories. Another quick but complete read from Krystal Shannan.

Review Dream Nights with the CEO by Kathy Lyons

Description
Hotel chain CEO and millionaire Wyatt Monroe is a stick in the mud. Sure, he's hot as sin, even with the tie, but free-spirited assistant Megan Bradford refuses to jeopardize their perfect working relationship. Why mess that up with sex? She knows he's the love'em and leave'em type, and she's determined to find a family man.

Wyatt would never cross the line between boss and employee with Megan, no matter how hard it might be to resist the temptation. But when they visit a mysterious B&B in a bid to acquire the property, he starts having erotic dreams about the sexy brunette that makes it hard to resist her in daylight.

Soon the line between reality and dreams further blurs when they learn they were sharing the same erotic dreams...

My Review
This book might not be for anyone as it is a quick read and yes tends to be unbelievable and there where gaps in the story line.

I found it a good quick read. Wyatt and Megan are likable characters and have tons of romantic/sexual tension. They have a history as boss and employee but they trust and respect each other which i like. The dreams they share are not the normal dreams one has in romance novels which I enjoyed as the are unique and give the book something different. Once Wyatt and Megan find out they are sharing dreams things in the real world heat up. I laughed a couple time, there is great heat to the sex(read and dream), and like I said before it was a easy quick read.
I liked this book... there was a couple issues I had with it but overall not bad. Plan on reading more from Kathy Lyons.

Trevor
Description
Trevor MacLaughlin has been in love with his sister's best friend for years. But, he lets her move away to college without ever telling her how he felt and hasn't seen her since.

Now, years later, a second chance with the woman of his dreams practically falls into his lap.

Will he take a leap of  faith and tell her how he feels? How he's always felt? Or will the woman he knows is meant to be his slip through his fingers a second time?

My Review
I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book... it is a fast read but felt complete there wasn't any real gaps. Trevor and Lorelei are truly meant to be together.

I like how strong and feisty Lorelei was even though she did have her doubts but she took a stand and told Trevor what she wanted and how she felt. Love that. Also Popcorn Balls is my new favorite saying.

Even though they seem to take things fast they have known each other for many years both hiding their true feelings. I love how they were thrown together and the ending was just perfect. What a wonderful short story which has the perfect Christmas Feel showing the acceptance of Family, Love and Happy Ever After.

While Blair recovers from exhaustion, Selena agress to take her place to keep the numbers from slipping. When Eric goes along with the deception , Selena knows she must hide her desires for Eric as deeply as she hides her identity from the rest of the world. It will be a wild ride, playing Blair in public, accepting fans' adulation- accepting Erics Kisses, all to feed the tabloid fodder. Used to wild rides, Selena prides herself on keeping her hand in the air and never touching the safety bar. But this one may be the wild ride that makes her need to hold on tight. Giving into temptation will make her world drop out from under her. Will she survive the plunge?

My Review

This book was my first from Connie Cox... I have to say That I did enjoy it and found myself not wanting to put it down. Selena and Eric have tons of Romantic tension which has you wanting to tell them to get over it and be together. Thankfully we have Blair who wants to see her friends happy with each other. Selena is a very loyal and hard working assistant to Blair even working as her body double for fittings, and believes like most of the world does that Eric and Selena are in a relationship. When she find out that Eric and Blair are not together that changes her whole view on Eric's availability. I very much enjoyed this book found it interesting, the characters where well rounded and meshed well together, and it didn't feel rushed and ended they way it should. It was an easy read with a fun feel especially with the dialogue between the characters. Will be reading more of Connie Cox in the future that is for sure.

EXCERPT

“You called me innocent back there in that parking lot. I dressed conservatively that summer because I was supposed to. You thought I was some kid who had just fallen off the turnip truck?” Elise stepped forward. From the rise and fall of his chest, his breath had deepened, and she struggled to keep her focus on his hard, dark eyes. Still a little beer buzzed, she put herself up in his face and laid it all on the line. “You tried to protect me because you’d heard rumors about Scarborough? What about the rumors I heard about you?”
His jaw hardened.
“What, you thought I wouldn’t have heard? Every woman at HaleStorm with a pulse and proper vision had your name written on their vibrators.”
This time she ignored the warning from her shoes when she clicked forward. “I didn’t let those rumors stop me, either. I’d been trying damn hard to get your attention that summer.”
He didn't move except to blink. “The trouble with rumors is they're half-true at best if true at all.” Then he did move, pressing into her space.
She hardened her gaze and met his stare, but there in the dim light of his apartment his eyes had turned the color of dark amber. And holy cow, those lashes could make any supermodel cry with envy. “Okay,” she said. “So what's your truth?”
His fingers danced up and down her spine, setting off shivers all over the place. He bent toward her, his stubble scraping her cheek. “The truth is, you were probably right when you said that this was a bad idea.”
She had said that, hadn’t she? His palm skimmed her waist and she damned herself for being sensible. “That… that probably is true.”
“And.” The heat of his hands and his breath licked along her neck and shoulders. Maybe she should have worn her coat over. “You have no idea what’s fact and what’s fiction about me.”
What Elise did know was the way he touched her now might well fry her brain. She needed to back away while she still had some semblance of her dignity. She managed one step. “Maybe I don't. My point is, neither do you.”
Other than a slight raise of his eyebrows, he didn't reply. Fine. Well, about that whole leaving with her dignity intact plan….
Another step. “Whatever. Thank you for trying to protect me. It was a misguided, unnecessary effort, but thank you for being concerned.” Finally, with a clench of fists and a huff of breath, she turned on her throbbing heel and stormed for the door.

About the Author

Elisabeth Staab still lives with her nose in a book and at least one foot in an imaginary world. She believes that all kinds of safe and sane love should be celebrated but she adores the fantasy-filled realm of paranormal romance the best. She lives in the Washington DC area with her family and one big scaredy cat, where she loves to spend time with good friends, go dancing, collect wacky coffee mugs from which to drink her favorite beverage, and sing off-key in her kitchen (when she isn’t making characters fall in love, that is).
