Year End Wrap-Up... Happy New Years

Well All,
Today is the last day of 2013... So much has happened this past year. It will be the One Year Anniversary for Just Jeannie's Books & Bling tomorrow... I can't believe a year has already passed. I will be having a special giveaway along with the monthly contest for January to celebrate. So I want to highlight some of the great Blog/Book things I did this year and I will also Highlight some great personal highlights also.

Blog Highlights

So much has happened this year and it has been a great year for Just Jeannie.s... I started my monthly giveaways and think I have given away some great book related prizes. I plan to keep this going and be better organized this year (that is the goal). I have currently 81 Goggle followers and 22 email readers and 181 Facebook likes. I think that is awesome and I love and appreciate everyone of you. I have been to two out of state book events this year... Fredrick Book Festival where I met some wonderful authors and even Bunny Joy for Joyfully Reviewed.

I also went to Lora Leigh's RAW for the 1st time where I had a blast carpooling and enjoying our love of books with another new friend Jane...She made the Drive to Maryland Fun and I am glad to have met her. I also met some new friends... That is one thing I love about books is that they allow people to normally don't have anything in common to have a common ground.  Raw was a blast and I plan on going back in September. I again met wonderful authors and seeing Carrie Ann and Ranae again was a great thing...Meeting Sylvia Day was totally awesome I have loved her books for years, I can't wait to go back.

I took part in a couple hops... I plan on taking part in more in 2014... I also did a couple Cover Reveals for some great authors (I admit I am a Cover Whore... Love me a great Cover). I joined a couple Street teams and proud to help out authors that I love.  For 2014 I plan on posting more reviews... I really slacked on posting reviews this year. I have read tons of great books but I am committed to posting more reviews in 2014. I don't have anyone helping me as it is just me... Maybe that will change later in the year as I might add one or two reviewers.

I am already planning on going to 2 book events I might be going to AAD as it is in Charlotte this year. I have big plans for Just Jeannie's so look forward to more reviews, more prizes, and even more bling.

Personal Highlights

Well Personally this has been a pretty good year. I graduated with my Bachelors in Accounting in November, I feel like I actually accomplished something.
I turned 30 and feel like the best is just starting.
Hubby and I had our 10 year wedding anniversary and  our boys Davey turned 10 and JonJon turned 4.
The greatest feeling is making our boys wishes come true so when Davey said he wanted to go Zip-lining for his birthday Hubby and I put on our adult undies and said ok... It was the greatest thing ever. Plan on going again. We had some great times with the VFW and Marine Corps League... Supporting the Military and our Veterans is important to Me and My family as Hubby is a Disabled Veteran and Served 8 Years in the Marine Corps. We had ups and downs but the Ups this year where much better than the Downs. So here is a couple Personal Highlight Pictures.

As you can see this year has been full of greatness and My plan for 2014 involves more family time, getting a great accounting job, taking my CPA Exam and tons of books.

Here is hoping your 2013 was great and wishing you nothing but the best in 2014.

Always
Jeannie

ARC Review Noelle's Wish by Nicole Garcia

Description
Noelle Andrews has had an abusive past and another bittersweet Christmas is here. Noelle's wish is a simple one. To be loved. To Noelle that wish is as unattainable as the stars in the cold winter sky. Roman Parker is young, sexy, and an entrepreneur. The CEO of Parker Industries is a man who thought he had everything he wanted. That was until he met Noelle. Can Roman make Noelle's dreams come true? Or will her past prevent her from having the only thing she has ever wished for?

My Review
This is a Christmas story that shows that anyone can overcome their deepest heartaches and even tragic pasts. Noelle is a withdrawn girl who had an abusive childhood which left her scared both emotionally and physically. She meets Roman by chance at the company Christmas party and the chemistry is instant. A little blackmail involving a book, job and a date gives these two the nudge they need to start on the path to happy ever-after.  I have to say I enjoyed this Christmas read and can't wait to read more from Nicole Garcia.

ARC Review Trevor by Krystal Shannan

Description
Trevor MacLaughlin has been in love with his sister's best friend for years. But, he lets her move away to college without ever telling her how he felt and hasn't seen her since.

Now, years later, a second chance with the woman of his dreams practically falls into his lap.

Will he take a leap of  faith and tell her how he feels? How he's always felt? Or will the woman he knows is meant to be his slip through his fingers a second time?

My Review
I have to say that I truly enjoyed this book... it is a fast read but felt complete there wasn't any real gaps. Trevor and Lorelei are truly meant to be together.

I like how strong and feisty Lorelei was even though she did have her doubts but she took a stand and told Trevor what she wanted and how she felt. Love that. Also Popcorn Balls is my new favorite saying.

Even though they seem to take things fast they have known each other for many years both hiding their true feelings. I love how they were thrown together and the ending was just perfect. What a wonderful short story which has the perfect Christmas Feel showing the acceptance of Family, Love and Happy Ever After.

Review Viking Fire By Andrea R. Cooper

Description
856 CE, Ireland is a land of myth, magic, and blood. Viking raiders have fought the Irish for over half a century. Rival Irish clans promise only betrayal and carnage.

Kaireen, daughter of Laird Liannon, is suddenly forced into an arranged marriage with her sworn enemy, a Viking. She refuses to submit. With no mention of love, only land and the protection of her clan, she endeavors to get her betrothed banished from her country. Will love find its way around her stubborn heart?

Bram the, Viking, finds himself without future or inheritance as a younger son in his family. A marriage to the Laird's daughter would grant him land if he swears fidelity and if his men will fight along with the Liannons against any foe- Irish or Viking. However, the Laird's feisty daughter only holds animosity for him and his kind. Is marriage worth the battle scars or such a relentless opponent?

With the blame for a rivals laird's death treacherously set against the Liannons, Kaireen and Bram must find a way to lay aside their differences as an unforeseen darkness sends death snapping at their heels.

My Review

First off let me tell you that I really liked this book. It wasn't the typical Viking "Romance" novel. It had a good back story and the characters were pretty well rounded.

Kaireen the heroine is strong, feisty, and determined however she is also very stubborn and in all honesty kind of a brat. I didn't really care for her spoil rottenness but thankfully she outgrew that. She does get kinda sulky but sometimes you got to be knocked down a peg to be able to see things in perspective. I enjoyed her character but the whining and why me did get to me a bit.

Bram is the hero and he is very much a Viking however he is respectful and has a good heart. He is determined to marry Kaireen and make things work, you have to root for him because he is the perfect hero.

The secondary characters are also very well rounded and make this book very enjoyable and having a bit of drama and mystery is always good in a book. Elva is very important in the book she is always there right when you actually "need" her, however I won't spoil anything but she tends to be one of my favorites in this book .

This book has everything you could ask for, Romance, Feisty Heroine, Strong Hero, Well rounded characters, action, mystery and even a bit of magic. Viking Fire was the first book by Andrea R Cooper that I have ever read and I have to say I am impressed and will be reading more of her books. This book reminded why I like a good traditional Historical once in a while.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 Genie Lamps

Happy Thanksgiving

Hey All,

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving Day. I am not cooking this year, we are going to my cousins for Thanksgiving. Her husband is an awesome chef and they told me not to bring anything. So Hubby, the Boys and I are going over around 4pm to watch some football, have great food and enjoy being with family.

I have a lot to be thankful for this year... I finally graduated College with my Bachelors in Accounting on the 19th, I have two wonderful boys who make me laugh everyday, and a wonderful husband. There have been some ups and downs this year but for the most part it has been pretty awesome. And hopefully I will pass my CPA exams in the next year and land a job in the accounting field that will allow me to still do everything I do now.

So whatever you are doing for Thanksgiving Day I wish you nothing but the best.

Much Love Always

Directions

Review A Very Russian Christmas by Krystal Shannan

Description
For most of her adult life, bodyguards have shadowed Ksenia Sharanov, daughter of a Russian mobster. Her one serious relationship left her broken-hearted when she learned he only sought her father’s power and money.

A ski vacation with her college roommates ends on a terrifying note. Her father’s enemies have been following her more closely than anyone could have anticipated. The mistake will cost a life…but will it cost her heart? Or will she find love in the arms of a complete stranger?

Matt O’Reilly, a retired Marine, generally keeps to himself. Working as a deputy in a small country sheriff’s office, provides just enough seclusion for him to cut himself off from his family’s pity and the heartache of losing his wife. He never thought love would be in the books for him again. Will the sudden arrival of a spunky dark-haired Russian beauty change his mind?

My Review

This is a very quick read but it has so much going on it that you don't feel shorted. I love how connected Matt and Ksenia become in such a short time, throw in a protected dog and you got me.
Ksenia was on vacation with her girl friends and is Kidnapped...On the run from her Fathers Enemies she isn't a weak heroine, she is very strong and is a fighter. I love that about her. Throw in a yummy Former Marine turned small town deputy and you have a hero you will want for you very own.

As I stated before this is a very quick read, which has everything you could want... it has the perfect mix of suspense, action and romance and steamy sex. Only downfall is that for me is the ending is a cliff-hanger, I seriously hope there will be a second book because I love Matt and Ksenia and want to know what happens with them next.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 Genie Lamps

Waking Sarah Blog Tour

WAKING SARAH
Vegas Mates, Book 3

Council threats and Renata’s deadly attack leave the Vegas pack scrambling to regroup…

Heartbroken over the death of her fiancé and tortured by a voice in her mind that’s haunted her since childhood, Sarah McLain learns her true ancestry after attending her best friend Margaret’s wedding. Can the pack save Sarah from the darkness that threatens to overwhelm her? Or will the wolf inside drive her over the edge before they can show her being a supernatural being is a good thing?

Chris Michaels is in charge of training the new latent werewolves at the O’Hearn mountain inn, now known as Woodhaven. His focus is tested when he finds out the beautiful but sad redhead, Sarah McLain, is his trainee.  The connection he feels to her is strong but not magickal, and his wolf claims it foolish to listen to his human instincts.  Can Chris heal her broken heart in time, or will he lose the woman he knows is perfect for him.

Stop #8 – Excerpt

Bonnie looked up at him and narrowed her eyes. Suddenly he felt very underdressed.
“Go put a shirt on, young man, and I’ll fix you a plate.”
It wasn’t a request. The little woman was ordering him around as if she were his mother.
“You heard her, Chris,” a much more familiar voice snapped from the other side of the kitchen.
“Shi— Mom!” What’s wrong with me today? I’m off my game. “I’m going.” He held up his hands in surrender and whirled, ducking back through the doorway and into the dining room.
Sarah was still at her table, staring out the window. She didn’t seem to notice him at first, but then she turned her head, and her gaze followed him across the room.
“No shirt, no service?”
He stopped, a laugh rolled up from his chest. “Yes.”
A grin spread across her face, and he was sure his heart stopped at least for a few seconds. He wanted to join her at the table, but fear of the mothers in the kitchen kept his feet planted firmly where they were.
“I’ll be back in a minute. Will you still be here? I’d like to eat with you.”
She held up her coffee cup. “Not going anywhere.”
“Good.”
He hurried from the room and up the main set of stairs at the front of the inn.
“You shouldn’t be pursuing her,” his wolf growled. “She’s human.”
Not for long.
“You can’t tell if she’s a mate match until after she turns.”
Sometimes even humans have instincts. Plus, a little flirting never hurt anyone.
“She’s masking her pain. You need to be mindful,” his wolf warned.
I will.
His wolf snorted but didn’t respond.

My Review
I have to say that I absolutely loved this box set. To me personally there is nothing sexier then a Man in Uniform and this anthology contains a lot of Men in Uniforms. I love all these authors and each of the stories were great reads in their own rights. I read the whole anthology which i will confess took me two days as I had to read in my free time.  There is so much going on in this anthology I honestly believe there is something for everyone in it.
There is action, romance, steamy sex (which everyone loves), a love triangle, wounded warriors/ disabled veterans, hookups that lead to something more, and  heartbreaks to happy ever afters. The stories in this anthology will make you feel so many different emotions and that is the essence of a great read. Even if you just buy it for one of the authors you will happy with your purchase, as it is only 0.99 cents which is a steal for these authors and their writing.

I rate this Anthology 5 out of 5 Genie Lamps

ARC Review Waking Sarah by Krystal Shannan

Description

The connection he feels to her is strong but not magickal, and his wolf claims it foolish to listen to his human instincts. Can Chris heal her broken heart in time, or will he lose the woman he knows is perfect for him.

My Review

This is the third book in the Vegas Mates series. I find this series more and more in depth and interesting with each book. I am loving this series

This book is about Sarah McLain and we found out that she is part wolf and not just a wolf from any line but of the royal line. It seems like everyone knew but her (poor thing), not only is she healing from a broken heart but doesn't think she is going crazy.

Enter Chis Michaels who brings Sarah back from the edge in more way then one. When he is not pissing her off over "hiding" things he is making her feel safe and makes her see there are somethings worth living for.

I hate spoiling stories and this one would be so easy for me to because I truly love the story line of the series and the characters.

There are some new characters which add to the storyline, we find out more about the council and what evil Renata is up to in this book but it leaves you  with more questions and Krystal leaves you with a cliffhanger and leaving you wanting more.

By the way she is really good at that and I love and hate her for it cause I want to know what happens next... Guess i just have to wait till the next book.  I hate waiting.

Review Saving Margaret by Krystal Shannan

Description
Successful, but lonely, Margaret Taylor finds her mate in the body of a man she least expects it in. A bear! Her human half tries to reason her way out of the match, but her wolf is through with her excuses. Crossing the species line isn’t unheard of, but it’s not often done.

Try as she might to avoid him, fate makes sure the big grizzly bear is nearby at all times. But, will his presence be enough to protect her from the evil stalking her?

The power of the magick between them can’t be avoided. But, Scott O’Hearn thinks the beautiful Taylor wolf is doing a fine job of just that —avoiding him. He can’t help he’s a bear shifter and he’s determined to convince her it doesn’t matter. She is his mate and he’s waited over a century to find her.

Will he convince Margaret she’s his true match before it’s too late?

My Review

Saving Margaret is the second book in the Vegas Mates Series and it fills in a lot of the questions you have about Sam's Mother at the end of Chasing Sam. This book as a lot going for it and you need to read Chasing Sam so you are on par with is going on.

I really like Margaret and Scott as a couple , there is a lot going on but it keeps you reading. Love the part where Scott kinda loses it due to being surrounded by wolves and just wants to be with Margaret.

I like that Krystal has expanded the characters, the action, and the drama. There is some bad things that happen due to Renata's wolf going crazy. I am not going to spoil anything but I like where this series is going and can't wait to read more.

Review Ghost and Spirits Insights from a Medium by Rob Gutro

Description

Ghost or Spirit? Learn the difference between Earth-bound ghosts and spirits who cross over in medium Rob Gutro's first book.
Rob is a meteorologist who uses science to explain their existence and communications. He wrote this book to give hope to others who lost people or pets.
In this very personal book, read about how his father passed and gave messages during his funeral to prove he was still there.
Share in Rob's adventures with the dead as he explores his abilities and gives proof they still exist. Read how spirits watch over and guide us.
Rob was inspired to write this book after a puppy he had was tragically killed in an accident. The puppy's spirit returned many times, as many pets do. Rob explains and gives examples of messages from pets who have passed on.
Walk in historic places, on ghost walks and in various locations where ghosts or spirits were encountered.
Read about ghostly or spirit encounters from others around the U.S. and learn how to recognize signs yourself.
Rob takes you on a detailed journey inside a haunted house where he resided, and shows you the ghostly face of a cruel southern General on a building in Savannah, who was responsible for his own daughter's death.
Learn some ways people and pets can give you signs: from a heart of flowers, to music, electricity, apports, appearances, temperature changes and more.
Rob wrote this book to offer comfort for anyone who lost someone dear to them, and provide proof that our departed loved ones are still around us, guiding. influencing, protecting us and helping teach us lessons.

My Review

First and foremost I have to say I met this author and had a very interesting conversation with him. He was very articulate and was well informed on the paranormal. He offered me a proof copy of his book if i would read and give my honest opinion on his book. I want to let you all know I do believe in Ghosts, I have seen Ghosts/Spirits if you believe me or not that is your opinion, I will now give my opinion on this book.

Rob Gutro gives you a insightful break down of  paranormal activity, ghosts and haunts in the first few chapters which answer a lot of questions that are normally asked about how, what, where and why paranormal activity happens. The experiences that are written in this book are not only from Rob Gutro's personal experiences and that of his family but also of many other people and historical sites. This book is full of experiences that make you go wow and look at things in a different light. This book is not one of those typical haunting books that you can pick up in gift shop which gives historical "ghost" facts, this is something more real and personal. I truly enjoyed this book and for those looking for answers or just wanting something a little different I recommend this book to you.

I rate this book
4.5 out of 5

As today is Halloween I thought that it was appropriate to do the review on this day.
